According to the Korean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and others that day, a man was found dead the previous afternoon near a building in a dwellings area of Ho Chi Minh City.
At the time, the man's body was contained inside a large blue bag. It was reported that a building security guard and passersby notified local police after a strange smell came from the bag.
Two men who were near the bag reportedly fled immediately by taxi when passersby gathered.
Local police controlled the area around the building, recovered the body to identify it, and the investigation showed the person was Korean.
In connection with the case, police also detained two Koreans suspected as suspects and are questioning them.
Based on the fact that the deceased Korean man's body was somewhat decomposed, local police are confirming the time and cause of death.
An official at the Korean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City said, "We were informed by local police that the deceased is Korean," and added, "We plan to contact the deceased's family and provide consular assistance."
