Actor Song Ji-hyo said she would respond firmly to allegations related to her father's "debt-too" issue.
NAMSAN (Lim, Chung & Suh), the legal representative of Song Ji-hyo's agency Nexus E&M, said in an official statement on the 21st, "Recently, Nexus E&M received an email that mentioned matters related to the father of our actor Song Ji-hyo," adding, "The email raised suspicions that the company operated by Song Ji-hyo's father is in a state of default on debt, and it included materials such as a draft banner reading 'A famous entertainer's parents, famous on TV for the passenger ship business!' along with a questionnaire."
It continued, "Sending such a draft banner, which goes beyond a simple inquiry, can be interpreted as an intention by someone to post the banner in front of Nexus E&M to damage Song Ji-hyo's honor and image and further obstruct the company's normal business activities," adding, "However, such conduct is a criminal act subject to punishment."
It also said, "Even if a party gives notice of harm to the other party as part of exercising rights, the courts have held that if the notice of such harm is not acceptable under social norms in light of social or ethical customs, or if it does not constitute a reasonable means for a legitimate purpose, it is subject to punishment," adding, "In light of this judicial stance, Nexus E&M believes that sending such materials to Nexus E&M—not even to Song Ji-hyo's father—clearly constitutes a criminal act that goes beyond what is acceptable under social norms."
It added, "Nexus E&M has no intention of turning a blind eye to any form of threats, pressure, or unjust acts that infringe on the honor and personal rights of our actor and the company's normal business activities," and said, "If the same or similar unlawful acts are repeated in the future, we will exercise all possible legal measures, including criminal complaints and claims for damages, as swiftly and sternly as possible."
Song Ji-hyo is currently appearing on SBS's "Running Man," and recently met audiences through the films "House of Meeting" and "Savior."
