A fire broke out at an apartment in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, on the 13th and was completely extinguished in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
According to authorities, a fire occurred at around 5:33 a.m. at a nine-story apartment in Sinwol-dong, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul.
Authorities issued response level 1 at around 5:44 a.m. and carried out firefighting operations, bringing the main blaze under control at around 6:55 a.m. The fire was completely extinguished at around 8 a.m.
About 50 apartment residents showed symptoms such as breathing difficulties and smoke inhalation and were taken to hospitals. Eighteen vehicles in the parking lot were burned, but the flames did not spread to the apartment units.
Police and fire authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the fire based on reports that it started in the pilotis parking lot.
