A chauffeur accused of threatening a small- and medium-sized business chairman's family with a weapon and demanding money in the middle of Gangnam, Seoul, has been apprehended by police.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul said on the 20th that it urgently arrested a man in his 50s, identified as A, on suspicion of attempted aggravated robbery.
Around 6 p.m. on the 19th in Gangnam District, A is suspected of putting a woman from the chairman's family, whom A was assigned to drive, and an infant into a vehicle, then threatening them with a weapon and demanding cash.
The victims fled when the vehicle briefly stopped and reported it to police. Police brought in A for a voluntary interview, took A into custody, and, about three hours later, found the discarded weapon and made an emergency arrest. There were no casualties in this incident.
Police booked A and the detailed circumstances of the case is under investigation.
