Presidential Committee for Decentralization and Balanced Development Chairperson Kim Kyeong-soo on the 19th said, "We must use the playing field of the Republic of Korea broadly. It is a path we must take for the future of the Republic of Korea."
Chairperson Kim stated accordingly at the opening ceremony of the '2025 Republic of Korea Era of Local Autonomy Expo' held at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center (UECO) in Ulsan on this day, "The government is pushing the new national balanced growth strategy, the 'five poles, three special mega-city' strategy, as the top state priority. It is a blueprint for a national transformation to overcome the one-pole Seoul metropolitan system."
Chairperson Kim said, "Successive administrations have made efforts for balanced development, but unfortunately it is true that the results have not met expectations," adding, "The Lee Jae-myung administration will be different from before. The Presidential Committee for Decentralization and Balanced Development will take the lead, and the central and local governments will unite as one to deliver results."
He said, "The Era of Local Autonomy Expo that opens today will be an important moment to confirm the potential and capabilities that regions possess and to present the vision of the five poles, three special strategy based on autonomy and decentralization."
He added, "A child is emceeing today's event. This is the first time a child has emceed a government event," and said, "National balanced development is a promise to the people. We must work together to build the Republic of Korea that we will pass on to children, the future generation."
