An incident occurred on a domestic flight bound for Cebu, Philippines, from Busan in which a passenger assaulted a flight attendant. The passenger was immediately handed over to local police upon arrival in Cebu.
According to the aviation industry on the 19th, at about 11 p.m. on the 17th, on JIN AIR flight LJ073 from Busan to Cebu, passenger A assaulted a flight attendant.
A first had an argument with another passenger and then reportedly hit the flight attendant who tried to stop it. The assaulted flight attendant was said to have bled and suffered bruises.
The airline calmed A and isolated the passenger in a separate seat. The aircraft arrived in Cebu without an emergency landing, and A was handed over to the local airport police.
Under Article 43 of the Aviation Security Act, those who assault crew members on board and jeopardize the safety of the aircraft and passengers can face up to 10 years in prison.
A JIN AIR official said, "This case is a serious violation that can have a significant impact on aviation safety and security, and we will take firm legal action against the passenger in accordance with relevant regulations."
