Actor Nana, formerly of the girl group After School (birth name Im Jin-a), personally subdued a robber who broke into her home, prompting advice that she should have complied with the demands first and then called police.
Attorney Park Seong-bae appeared on YTN on the 17th, saying, "A man in his 30s entered Nana's home with a weapon, but was overpowered after a struggle with Nana and her mother," and noted, "There are reports that Nana holds an officially recognized 4th-dan rank in special forces martial arts."
Park said, "When something like this happens, we do not recommend the victim take aggressive action," adding, "The best course is to comply to some extent and call police to make an early arrest."
On the level of punishment for the assailant, Park said, "Since a man in his 30s entered a residence with a weapon to extort money or valuables, it is natural that attempted aggravated robbery is established," adding, "Even if there was no intent to inflict injury, because the victim was injured, the charge of robbery resulting in injury is highly likely to apply, making a heavy sentence unavoidable."
At around 6 a.m. on the 15th, a man in his 30s entered Nana's home in Guri, Gyeonggi, with a weapon, threatened Nana and her mother, injured them, and demanded money.
The man is believed to have climbed up to the veranda using a ladder he prepared in advance, then entered through a door whose lock had been released and injured Nana's mother, including by choking her. Nana and her mother then subdued the man after a physical struggle and called police.
