A woman who allegedly ordered teenagers to commit a robbery to snatch her ex-boyfriend's cellphone has been arrested by police.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul said it arrested a woman in her 30s, identified only as A, at about 3 a.m. on the 17th in Goyang, Gyeonggi, on suspicion of instructing a special robbery.
A is suspected of directing four teenage males recruited on an online platform to take the cellphone of her ex-boyfriend, a man in his 20s identified as B. A is said to have instigated the crime out of concern that a sex video B filmed while they were dating could be leaked.
The four males who received the order went to B's residence in Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, at about 10:50 p.m. on the 16th carrying a weapon, assaulted his face and other areas, and tried to steal his cellphone. B is said to have suffered abrasions to the face and neck.
Police plan to review seeking an arrest warrant for A after the investigation. The four males have also been apprehended and booked on suspicion of special robbery as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances of the case.
