Busan city said on the 13th that it improved the Gwangandaegyo Bridge landscape lighting for the first time in 12 years.
The upgrade is part of the "Seven Bridge Landmark Project," one of the international tourism city development programs Busan city has pursued since 2021. With a total project cost of about 10.7 billion won, it aims to improve the world's largest bridge light-emitting diode (LED). The project covers seven coastal bridges, including Gwangandaegyo Bridge, ▲ Yeongdodaegyo Bridge ▲ Busan Harbor Bridge ▲ Namhang Bridge ▲ Eulsukdo Bridge ▲ Sinho Bridge ▲ Gadeok Bridge.
Accordingly, Busan city increased the number of lighting fixtures on Gwangandaegyo Bridge from 7,011 to 13,465. It also reduced the lighting interval, previously installed at 1 meter, to 50 centimeters. The city said the upgrade enhanced the message delivery, color, and resolution of the landscape lighting.
In connection with the upgraded Gwangandaegyo Bridge, Busan city plans to raise the completeness of the Busan Fireworks Festival, which marks its 20th anniversary this year. The fireworks festival is scheduled for the 15th.
Kim Hyun-jae, head of Busan city's Tourism and MICE Bureau, said, "Based on Gwangandaegyo Bridge, reborn as the world's best nightscape, we will attract more foreign tourists and elevate it into a special landmark of Busan that people want to visit again."
