The Seoul city government held a launch ceremony for the Seoul Investment Promotion Foundation on the 13th at the Seoul Global Center International Conference Hall.
The Seoul Investment Promotion Foundation is a dedicated investment-attraction agency established by the Seoul city government to respond to global competition for investment. It is the first among local governments.
At the launch ceremony, about 100 officials from related organizations, including Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Seoul Metropolitan Council Chair Choi Ho-jung, as well as foreign embassies, foreign investment agencies, and chambers of commerce, attended.
Going forward, the Seoul Investment Promotion Foundation will serve as a control tower overseeing investment attraction through measures such as establishing Seoul-specific specialized investment-attraction strategies, expanding tailored support and networks for corporations, attracting global companies, and strengthening site development marketing and revitalizing the financial hub.
Lee Ji-hyung, chair of the Seoul Investment Promotion Foundation, said, "We will nurture Seoul into Asia's top global investment hub," and noted, "We will streamline our organizational structure so we can closely support the entire investment-attraction process by strategic industry, including Fintech, AI (artificial intelligence), biotech, and robotics."
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said, "The Seoul Investment Promotion Foundation will be a pivot for boosting competitiveness on the world stage," and added, "From corporations' first consultation to settlement and expansion, we will provide one-stop support for the entire investment process to propel Seoul's leap as a 'global investment hub city' where corporations gather and people, capital, and technology grow together."
Meanwhile, at the launch ceremony, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was also signed between the Seoul Investment Promotion Foundation and major investment agencies from four countries—the United States, France, Japan, and Luxembourg. The agreement focuses on facilitating investment networks, conducting joint programs such as conferences, and the exchange of information on policies to foster corporations and best practices.
