Actor Choi Jeong-won (44), formerly of the popular 2000s group UN, was handed over to prosecutors on stalking charges.
According to the legal community on the 12th, police sent Choi to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office that day on charges of stalking and special intimidation.
Choi is accused of going to the home of a woman he knew on Aug. 16 and threatening her while holding a weapon. On the same day, the Jungbu Police Station in Seoul booked Choi on stalking charges and implemented an "emergency temporary measure." This measure blocks the perpetrator from approaching within 100 meters of the victim or making contact.
On Aug. 19, Choi said in a media interview, "This happened as I was in the process of breaking up with my current girlfriend," and "I explained everything through the police investigation."
