At about 6:50 a.m. on the 9th, a 98-ton Chinese fishing boat, the A, capsized in international waters about 81 kilometers off Gageodo, Sinan County, South Jeolla.
There were 11 crew members on the A, and another Chinese fishing boat operating in nearby waters first rescued six of them. The Korea Coast Guard, which arrived at the scene afterward, additionally rescued two crew members who were drifting at sea.
The remaining three have not yet been found. The six who were rescued first have no major health problems, but the two rescued by the Korea Coast Guard were found in cardiac arrest and were rushed for emergency transport.
The Korea Coast Guard, in cooperation with the China Coast Guard, is continuing to search for the missing, focusing on the accident area.
