Traffic is expected to be congested as large-scale rallies organized by the two major labor federations and others are scheduled at several locations across downtown Seoul on the 8th.
The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) will hold a "national workers' rally" from 3 p.m. on Jangchungdan-ro (Dongdaemun Design Plaza intersection to Heunginjimun intersection), and the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) will hold one from 2 p.m. around Yeouidaero (southern end of Mapo Bridge to Seoulgyo). The reported number of participants is 50,000 each, totaling 100,000.
After the rally, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) also signaled a march toward the Sejong Hotel and the Seoul Regional Labor Office.
In addition, the Liberty Unification Party, led by Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church, will hold a rally gathering 50,000 people from 1 p.m. along the section from the Gwanghwamun Donghwa Duty Free Shop to the Seoul Metropolitan Council. The Korean Buddhist Taego Order will hold a dharma assembly from 1 p.m. on the north side of Gwanghwamun Square and around Sejong-daero. The reported number of participants is 6,000.
In response, police plan to operate reversible lanes near Sejong-daero, Jangchungdan-ro and Yeouidaero. In the Euljiro area, vehicles will be restricted from the DDP intersection toward the Euljiro 1(il)-ga intersection, and drivers must detour toward Toegye-ro.
