The special counsel investigating Kim Keon-hee is conducting searches and seizures on the 6th at Acrovista in Seocho-gu, Seoul, the home of former President Yoon Suk-yeol and his spouse, and at the 21gram office in connection with the "presidential residence transfer suspicion."
In a media notice that day, the special counsel said, "In connection with the 'presidential residence transfer suspicion case,' starting this morning (the 6th), we are conducting searches and seizures at seven locations including Acrovista and the 21gram office, such as the offices and residences of those involved."
It is known that Kovana Contents, once run by Kim Keon-hee, was also among the targets of the searches and seizures that day.
After Yoon took office, 21gram faced allegations of winning a preferential contract related to an extension agreement at the time of the residence transfer. The allegation is that it won the residence construction work in return for sponsoring Kovana Contents.
Previously, the Board of Audit and Inspection announced in Sep. last year that 21gram and others participated through a private contract despite being unqualified in the presidential residence transfer project. However, criticism arose that the Board of Audit and Inspection did not sufficiently examine key suspicions, including the specific circumstances under which 21gram came to take on the project.
Kim Tae-young, CEO of 21gram, is a graduate school alumnus of Kookmin University with Kim. The CEO's wife, a person surnamed Cho, is known to have accompanied the exchange of a Chanel bag—gifted by former presidential office administrator Yu Kyung-ok and former Unification Church World Headquarters chief Yoon Young-ho—for a premium, and paid the additional amount.
Meanwhile, the special counsel plans to summon and question former National Education Commission Chairperson Lee Bae-yong at 10 a.m. that day. The former chairperson faces allegations of giving money and valuables to Kim and seeking favors in public appointments.
