The Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination (SADD) is staging a rush-hour protest on Line No. 1 of the metropolitan subway on the 4th. Because of this, trains on Line No. 1 at one point skipped stopping at Seoul Station and passed through.
Starting at 8 a.m. that day, SADD held a protest on the Line No. 1 platform at Seoul Station, boarding subway trains very slowly to disrupt operations.
Seoul Metro said at about 10:04 a.m. that trains in both directions were passing through Seoul Station without stopping. It then sent a text message to citizens about 56 minutes later, around 11 a.m., stating that the skip-stop measure had been lifted.
SADD held the protest to press the Lee Jae-myung administration to reflect the "budget for disability rights" it is demanding. In a statement, SADD said, "Korea's level of fiscal spending on disability policy is only one-third of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average," and argued, "Please ensure an increase in the 2026 budget that reflects the budget for disability rights."
Through prior notice, Seoul Metro said, "There is currently an illegal protest by a certain disability group disrupting train operations on Line No. 1. Train operations on Line No. 1 may be delayed for a considerable time, and depending on the situation, trains will pass through the station without stopping."
