On the 13th, test-takers sitting for the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) must enter the test site by 8:10 a.m. with an ID and test slip. All electronic devices, including mobile phones, smartwatches, and earphones with Bluetooth functions, are banned from test sites.
The Ministry of Education announced these 2026 CSAT test-taker guidelines on the 4th.
According to the guidelines released that day by the Ministry of Education, test-takers must attend the preliminary assembly on the 12th, the day before the exam, to receive their test slip. Afterward, they should check their chosen subjects listed on the slip and review the test site location in advance.
On the test day, test-takers must bring the test slip and a valid ID with a photo and enter the designated room by 8:10 a.m. If the test slip is lost, they can have it reissued at the test site control office with one photo identical to the one attached to the application and an ID. Even without a photo, a temporary test slip can be issued.
Electronic devices are banned inside the test site. If a test-taker is found in possession without submitting the device to a proctor, it will be treated as cheating. The test will also be invalidated.
Only analog watches with no payment, communication functions, or electronic display are allowed. Items needed due to personal physical conditions or medical reasons, such as hearing aids or magnifying glasses, may be carried after prior inspection by the proctor for each testing period.
All test-takers must sit for the Korean history section in the fourth period. If not, the exam will be invalidated and no score report will be issued. The subsequent fourth-period social and science inquiry sections must be taken in the order of the subjects chosen by the test-taker. The test paper for the chosen subject in that order must be placed on the desk and worked on. The chosen fourth-period subjects and their order can be confirmed on the test slip and on the sticker attached to the top of the test-taker's desk.
Only the distributed black computer-marking pen may be used on the answer sheet. The handwriting verification phrase must also be written with the black computer-marking pen.
When the end bell rings, immediately put down writing instruments, place the answer sheet on the right and the test paper on the left, then lower your hands and follow the proctor's instructions.
The Ministry of Education said that if an unexpected situation such as an earthquake occurs during the exam, it will act swiftly with the test-taker's safety as the top priority according to prearranged procedures. At that time, test-takers must follow the instructions of the test site control office and proctors.
In addition, the Ministry of Education plans to produce and distribute videos and booklets so test-takers can learn the key points of the guidelines. Metropolitan and provincial education offices also plan to provide advance education to test-takers using various materials. The CSAT website provides the guideline booklet and videos.
Minister Choi Kyo-jin of the Ministry of Education said, "Please review the test-taker guidelines before the exam so that the efforts of test-takers do not go to waste due to an unfortunate incident," adding, "We will spare no support together with metropolitan and provincial education offices and relevant ministries so test-takers can demonstrate their full abilities in a stable environment."
