Hong Kong's Asia Business Law Journal said on the 4th it has selected this year's 100 best lawyers in Korea. The journal surveys lawyers at major law firms across Asia and legal teams at corporations to pick the best lawyers in each country every year.
According to legal sources, lawyers at Kim & Chang made the list the most among this year's 100 best lawyers in Korea. Twenty-two were selected, including Kim Young-moo and Jang Su-gil, who founded Kim & Chang, as well as Jeong Kyung-taek, Jeong Gye-seong, Jeong Byeong-seok, Yang Young-jun, and Yu Guk-hyeon.
Next, 19 lawyers from Lee & Ko, including Kim Sang-gon, An Yong-seok, and Lee Gyu-hwa, made the list. BAE, KIM & LEE LLC had 14 lawyers selected, including founder Kim In-seop, as well as Bae Myeong-in, Seo Dong-woo, Lee Jun-gi, and Kwon Sun-ik.
At Yulchon, 13 lawyers made the list, including founding members U Chang-rok, Yun Se-ri, and Han Bong-hee, and lawyers Kang Seok-hoon, Yeom Yong-pyo, and Choi Jeong-yeol. Shin & Kim LLC had 11 lawyers on the list, including Oh Jong-han, Im Yeong-cheol, and Lee Gyeong-don.
At Yoon & Yang LLC, 10 lawyers were selected, including founder Yun Ho-il and lawyers Lee Myeong-su, Yun Hui-ung, Im Seung-sun, Oh Geum-seok, and Hong Seok-beom. At Jipyong, eight lawyers were selected, including founding member Yang Yeong-tae; former Supreme Court Justice Kim Ji-hyeong, who was appointed Chairperson of the Economic, Social and Labor Council in the Lee Jae-myung administration; and lawyers Kim Ji-hong and Lee Haeng-gyu.
Lee Yeong-gu and Lee Jeong-ran of DR & AJU, and Park Gi-tae of Barun, also made the list. At Lin, three lawyers were selected, including founder Im Jin-seok, as well as Kim Sang-min and Shin Yeong-jae.
Lawyers at firms with specialty practices also made the list. Notable examples include Kim Gap-yu and foreign lawyer Bang Jun-pil of international arbitration specialist firm Peter & Kim; Choi Hee-jun of Dentons Lee, which handles many labor cases; and Kang Nam-gyu of Gaon, which specializes in taxes cases.
