Yongsan District Office on the 10/29 asked people to refrain from entering the area near Itaewon Station as crowds gathered.
Through a safety text message, Yongsan District Office said, "Around 10:30 p.m., we are concerned about a safety accident due to a crowd gathering around Itaewon Station," urging this.
It also said that starting at 11 p.m., Seoul Subway Line No. 6 would skip Itaewon Station without stopping and asked people to use Noksapyeong Station or Hangangjin Station.
As crowds also gathered in the back alley of the Hamilton Hotel, the site of the deadly crowd crush in the nightlife district of Itaewon, police began restricting entry at around 10:20 p.m.
Near Noksapyeong Station, the "10/29 third anniversary memorial and safety festival for the deadly crowd crush in the nightlife district of Itaewon" was also held.
The civic groups "Citizens' Countermeasures Committee Victims' Rights Committee" and "Jack-o'-lanterns Remembering Itaewon" paid tribute to the victims dressed in cosplay.
