A man in his 40s who had been secretly filming women's bodies on the Busan subway has been indicted and detained.
The Ulsan District Prosecutors' Office said on the 27th that it indicted and detained a man in his 40s, identified as A, on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
From May 2019 to last month, A is accused of using a mobile phone to film specific parts of women's bodies at Busan subway stations a total of 1,295 times over six years.
It was also revealed that A continued the offenses 265 times from May to last month even while under police arrest and prosecutorial investigation.
Right before the prosecution's questioning, A installed a phone data deletion app to eliminate evidence of the illegal filming.
A was previously punished for illegal filming on the subway, receiving one fine and two suspended sentences.
A prosecution official said, "By analyzing the suspect's transit card usage records and mobile phone, we uncovered that the offenses continued even after the case was sent to the prosecution," adding, "We detained the suspect to prevent further harm."
