BAE, KIM & LEE LLC said on the 22nd that it has recruited attorney Ko Sang-beom (36th Judicial Research and Training Institute), an expert in finance, and attorney Kim Pan-su (4th Bar Exam), who has extensive advisory experience in real estate, energy, and infrastructure project finance (PF), respectively.
Attorney Ko Sang-beom served as in-house counsel at IBK Industrial Bank of Korea from 2008 to 2011, handling finance-related litigation and contract advisory work. He then spent about 15 years at the Financial Supervisory Service, where he handled unfair trading investigations, inspections and sanctions of financial companies, and responses to the Securities and Futures Commission and the FSS Sanctions Review Committee.
Also, during his time at the Financial Supervisory Service, he worked in the Special Investigation Department, the Savings Bank Inspection Department, and the Dispute Mediation Department and Consumer Protection General Department, and served as Head of Team of the Sanctions Review Bureau's Capital Markets Team and Head of Team of Investigation Department 2, gaining practical experience in financial company inspections, capital market investigations, and consumer protection.
In particular, he was recognized for his expertise in investigating unfair trading in the capital markets, such as insider trading, market manipulation, and fraudulent unfair trading, and from 2014 to 2016 served as a lecturer at the Korea Listed Companies Association and as a member of the guideline-drafting task force for market order–disrupting conduct under the Capital Markets Act at the Financial Supervisory Service. He received commendations from the governor of the Financial Supervisory Service in 2015 and from the chair of the Financial Services Commission in 2021.
Attorney Kim Pan-su worked for about 10 years from 2015 at Law Firm Jipyong, handling a wide range of matters including energy and infrastructure business development and financing (PF), real estate business development and physical asset transaction, fund and REIT establishment, and financial regulations related to Fintech. Before practicing law, he also managed alternative investment funds in the investment industry and planned network-based products in the mobile communications industry.
Kim has successfully carried out numerous PF and fund and REIT investments and technology finance advisory matters, and was named a "Rising Star" by the global legal directory IFLR1000 in 2021 and a "Notable Practitioner" for three consecutive years starting in 2022.
