Admissions content creator Mimiminu, 30, whose real name is Kim Min-woo, has been sued by a participant on Kim's YouTube channel on charges including defamation.
According to police on the 21st, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul received a complaint earlier this month from a person in their 20s, identified as A, seeking punishment for Kim on charges of defamation and insult, and is currently investigating.
Person A appeared on Kim's YouTube channel in February last year but left the program after allegations spread mainly on online communities that "in high school, A stole classmates' laptops."
Kim was then reported to have said during a live broadcast that the allegations about A were essentially true. Kim was also said to have read malicious comments about A at that time.
In the complaint, A was reported to have claimed that, as a result, A was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and even attempted an extreme act.
Kim, who has 1.87 million subscribers, shares admissions-related content with test takers based on the experience of entering the Department of Public Administration at Korea University after five attempts.
