Gyeonggi Province Gov. Kim Dong-yeon on the 21st said at the National Assembly audit of Gyeonggi Province, in response to a lawmaker's question about Presidential Secretariat First Executive Office Deputy Minister Kim Hyun-ji, "I don't understand why this person is being mentioned at Gyeonggi Province's audit."
At the Public Administration and Security Committee's audit of Gyeonggi Province held at the provincial government office that day, when People Power Party Rep. Seo Beom-su presented a video of the contents of a call by a figure presumed to be Deputy Minister Kim Hyun-ji and asked, "Isn't this election interference? We requested a witness to verify that, but it was blocked by an ironclad defense from the Democratic Party. What do you think?", Kim replied accordingly.
He went on to say, "This was a special appointment public official from well before I took office, I know nothing about it, and I have no acquaintance," adding, "What meaning does a Grade-5 special appointment public official who retired long ago have at the critical Gyeonggi Province audit?"
Kim also said regarding the disaster basic income and people's livelihood recovery consumption coupons that President Lee Jae-myung promoted when serving as Gyeonggi governor, "We are repaying without delay."
When People Power Party Rep. Lee Dal-hee said, "The disaster basic income paid in three rounds while Lee was Gyeonggi governor totaled 3.3845 trillion won. From now until 2029, successors will have to repay 300 billion to 380 billion won each year," Kim said, "We are repaying without delay, including 383.2 billion won this year," and added, "Extraordinary measures suited to the COVID-19 situation at the time were necessary. Even if such a situation arises again, we will not hesitate to protect people's livelihoods."
In response to People Power Party Rep. Lee Seong-kwon's question that "because of the people's livelihood recovery consumption coupons, two cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province postponed their projects to next year and two cut other projects," Kim said, "Under the current structure, we have no choice but to do matching projects."
