Police will decide on the handling of the 64 suspects extradited from Cambodia on the afternoon of the 19th.
The Korean National Police Agency said in a notice, "Given the large number of people being questioned under arrest, we will decide on arrest warrants within the 48-hour detention limit."
The 64 extradited earlier were arrested around 2 a.m. on the 18th upon boarding a chartered plane, and the detention limit runs until the early morning of the 20th. With the deadline approaching, police plan to decide by late afternoon whether to seek arrest warrants for each suspect.
Of the 64, 45 are reportedly being questioned by the South Chungcheong Provincial Police Agency, and 15 by the Gyeonggi Bukbu Provincial Police Agency. One person under investigation by the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul has been identified as the account holder used in a stock-tipping chatroom scam, and investigators are determining whether the person merely provided the account or actively participated.
