Police cleared chef Triple Star (legal name Kang Seung-won), who appeared on the variety show "Culinary Class Wars," of allegations that he embezzled restaurant funds, according to reports on Oct. 19.
According to police, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul decided early last month not to refer the case to prosecutors, judging that Triple Star did not commit occupational embezzlement.
Triple Star gained attention after appearing on the cooking survival program "Culinary Class Wars," which aired on Netflix in September last year, and finishing third overall.
In November of the same year, police opened an investigation after a complaint was filed through the National Petition System by an online user, who said the ex-wife exposed that Triple Star had secretly sent part of the restaurant's funds to his parents.
When the allegation surfaced, Triple Star temporarily suspended public activities.
