According to the Ulsan Metropolitan Police Agency and the Ulsan chapter of the National Plant Construction Workers' Union on the 18th, a worker in his 50s identified as A, an employee of a partner company who suffered severe injuries (second-degree burns) in the explosion at the SK Energy plant in Yongyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan on the 17th, died while receiving treatment this morning.
The accident occurred at 10:42 a.m. on the 17th in the hydrogen production process inside the plant, where scheduled maintenance work was underway. The accident left one person dead and four injured.
Earlier, Minister Kim Young-hoon of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, regarding the accident, said to "make every effort to manage the aftermath," and ordered the immediate formation of the Central Industrial Accident Response Headquarters and the Regional Industrial Accident Response Headquarters.
