A decomposed body was found in the Namhan River in Danyang County, North Chungcheong, prompting a police investigation.
According to police on the 17th, at about 8 a.m. that day, a report was filed by an employee of a collection company who said, "The lower body of a person came out of river debris."
The company is said to have discovered the lower body while sorting collected debris for recycling at a company located in Chungju, after collecting floating debris from the Namhan River in Danyang.
Responding to the report, police also found the upper body in a pile of collected materials at about 11:20 a.m. that day. However, the head was reportedly missing.
The body was reportedly so badly decomposed that neither the gender nor the identity could be confirmed.
Police and fire authorities began searching the Namhan River area from which the collection company had gathered the debris.
