Police and fire authorities launched a search after a threat claiming explosives had been planted at a high school in Seo District, Incheon was received for the fourth day.
According to the Incheon Seobu Police Station and fire authorities on the 16th, at about 7:32 a.m. that day, a post claiming explosives had been planted at Daein High School in Seo District was uploaded to the 119 Safety Report Center.
The poster wrote, "I checked the investigative capability and finalized the plan. I'll see you at the actual terror today," and added, "Manage the rice paddies and fields behind the school. Access is too easy. I went in by climbing over the wall, and there was no closed-circuit (CC) TV, which was good."
The person also wrote, "It will go off four times between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.," and, "I made it while watching YouTube, and it's too easy to make."
The threatening posts claiming explosives had been planted at Daein High School have appeared every day since the 13th for the fourth straight day, but the 119 Safety Report Center has not yet identified the poster. The person who posted the messages is presumed to be the same individual.
Police and fire authorities conducted a search and confirmed there were no explosives at the school. The school is therefore holding classes as normal.
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency formed a dedicated response team led by the Seobu Police Station Head of Team. The dedicated response team consists of a total of 30 people, including 11 detectives, 4 cyber investigators, and 11 women and youth investigators. It is strengthening an online and offline investigative collaboration system and is working with the Korean National Police Agency for international joint investigations.
A police official said, "The poster used a virtual private network (VPN), resulting in different internet protocol (IP) addresses, so we could not identify a suspect," and added, "We will respond strictly to false and malicious reports in accordance with the law and principles."
