The Cambodia-based Prince Group, known to have engaged in fraud and human trafficking in Cambodia and elsewhere, appears to have operated an office in Korea as well.
According to the office of Seo Beom-su, a member of the Public Administration and Security Committee from the People Power Party, on the 16th, Prince Real Estate Group, the real estate affiliate of Prince Group, states on its website that it has a Korea office in Sunhwa-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. The phone number uses Cambodia's country code.
When Seo's office visited the location, the office on the 17th floor was a shared office, and it could not confirm whether Prince Group was operating there. The phone number also did not connect. However, Prince Real Estate Group was said to have promoted that it opened an exhibition hall in Korea in May. The office said it was confirmed that a gallery event was held in Seoul in August. It added that in 2022, the group also had exchanges with the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia.
Seo said that since there are indications the real estate affiliate of Prince Group was mainly used for money laundering, an investigation is needed into whether similar activities took place domestically.
