A claim has been raised that a Chinese suspect accused of killing a Korean college student in Cambodia took part in the "Gangnam cram-school district drug drink case" that occurred in Korea two years ago.
According to Cheonma, a vigilante group tracking crimes against Koreans in Cambodia, and Yonhap News on the 12th, a Chinese national, a person surnamed Li (34), was identified as the ringleader who, after torturing, caused the death of a Korean college student in his 20s, a person surnamed Park, last August in the Bokor Mountain area of Kampot Province, Cambodia.
Cheonma claimed that Li has a prior drug conviction and served as the overall distribution chief during the "drug drink case" that unfolded in April 2023 in the cram-school district of Daechi-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. It added that Li forcibly injected the victim with drugs and personally filmed the torture scene.
Cambodian prosecutors indicted three Chinese nationals in their 30s and 40s on charges including murder and fraud on the 10th local time, but Li, identified as the ringleader, has not yet been arrested, according to reports.
Cheonma said it delivered this information to Korean police and requested investigative cooperation.
Regarding this, an official with the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency said, "We did contact the Cheonma operator and confirmed some videos to verify the tip," but added, "As for the alleged link to the Gangnam drug drink case, police have neither verified nor commented on it."
