Service is delayed after a train broke down at Myeongil Station on Seoul Subway Line 5.
According to Seoul Metro, at about 6:31 a.m. on the 10th, a train bound for Banghwa broke down and came to a stop as it was passing Myeongil Station on Line 5.
At about 7:14 a.m., the corporation carried out a rescue coupling by deploying another train to tow the disabled train, which could not move on its own. During the process, all passengers disembarked, and the disabled train was moved to the siding track (a reserve track for maintenance and management) at Gil-dong Station.
Because of this incident, following trains were delayed by up to 47 minutes, and headways were also adjusted. Commuters experienced inconvenience as a result.
A corporation official said, "Line 5 is operating across the entire section now, but some service is delayed due to the aftermath of the incident," and added, "We are investigating the exact cause of the malfunction."
