An electric vehicle caught fire in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Suwon.
According to fire authorities, at about 8:04 a.m. on the 5th, a fire broke out in an electric vehicle parked on the first basement level of the underground parking lot of an apartment complex with 1,800 households in Gwonseon District, Suwon, Gyeonggi.
Fire authorities who were dispatched to the scene began extinguishing operations, bringing the main flames under control in about 30 minutes. The electric vehicle that caught fire and three nearby vehicles burned, but there were no casualties.
After receiving a report that smoke was coming from a parked electric vehicle, fire authorities deployed about 10 pieces of equipment and about 50 firefighters, prevented the fire from spreading roughly 20 minutes after dispatch, and covered it with a smothering fire blanket for an initial knockdown at about 8:43 a.m.
The police and fire authorities plan to move the burned electric vehicle to the ground, take safety measures, and investigate the exact cause of the fire once it is completely extinguished.
