On the first day of the Chuseok holiday, a worker died at a workplace in a factory in Busan.
According to the Sasang Police Station in Busan and others on the 3rd, at about 8:54 a.m. that day, a worker in his 50s, identified as A, was crushed by a machine and died at a ship parts manufacturing factory in Sasang District, Busan.
A was reportedly crushed by the hydraulic machine while moving it. A was taken to a hospital unconscious but died at about 9:04 a.m., roughly 20 minutes after the accident.
The ship parts manufacturing factory where A worked was reportedly scheduled to run only until the morning that day and then close for the Chuseok holiday from the afternoon.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by questioning people at the scene and will also look into possible violations of the Act on Punishment of Serious Accidents.
