Yonsei University and Korea University received a threatening email claiming explosives had been planted, prompting police to respond. No explosives were found.
Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul said on the 2nd that it received a 112 report that a threatening email had been sent to Yonsei University's general affairs office. The email said, "I planted high-powered bombs in several places inside the school facilities" and "The detonation time is Oct. 2."
About 50 police officers and 30 firefighters were deployed to search the main building and the education building at Yonsei University's Sinchon campus. No explosives were found, and police are stepping up patrols in the area.
Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul also received a report that a similar threatening email had been sent to Korea University and searched the school but did not find explosives.
Police are investigating the details regarding the sending of the threatening email.
