Police have detected signs that Samsung Display's latest technology was leaked to China and launched an investigation.
According to police and industry sources on the 2nd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Industrial Technology Security Investigation Unit conducted a search and seizure the previous day at Samsung Display's Asan Campus in South Chungcheong Province on suspicion of violating the Industrial Technology Protection Act.
Police are investigating allegations that some employees working there leaked the company's latest display technology to a specific competitor in China.
A police official said it was "in the early stages of the investigation" and noted they were "checking the facts."
In the first half of this year, police uncovered eight cases of overseas technology leaks. Of these, five were leaked to China.
