A man in his 40s who killed his girlfriend and kept her body in a kimchi refrigerator for about a year has been sent to prosecutors.
Gunsan Police Station in North Jeolla Province said on the 2nd that it sent Mr. A (41), who was arrested on charges of murder and abandoning a body.
According to police, Mr. A is suspected of killing Ms. B, his girlfriend in her 40s, at a villa in Gunsan on Oct. 20 last year and abandoning the body.
After the crime, Mr. A reportedly exchanged messages with B's family using the victim's mobile phone, making it seem as if B was alive.
When police contacted him, Mr. A also told another woman he was living with to answer the call instead. As police kept pressing, the woman said, "I am not Ms. B." This led to the discovery of Mr. A's crime.
Police found Ms. B's body in the kimchi refrigerator of the villa where the crime occurred. They then urgently arrested Mr. A on Sept. 29.
Mr. A is said to have told police, "We argued over stock investing, and I did it in a fit of anger."
