Korean women's table tennis player Shin Yu-bin (21, Korean Air) advanced to the women's singles quarterfinals of the World Table Tennis (WTT) Series on the 2nd.
Shin Yu-bin came from behind to defeat Kuai Man (21, China), ranked No. 4 in the world, in the women's singles round of 16 at the WTT China Smash held in Beijing, China, that day.
After dropping the first game 7-11, Shin took the second 11-7 and the third 11-9 in succession, but lost the fourth 8-11.
In the final fifth game, leading 10-6 and facing match point, she allowed three straight points to see her lead cut to one, then eked out a dramatic point to win.
With this win, Shin avenged consecutive losses to Kuai Man. After a defeat in the China Super League in Aug., Shin lost to Kuai Man again in both women's doubles and mixed doubles at this tournament.
In the quarterfinals, Shin will face Zhu Chenxi (23, Samsung Life Insurance), a naturalized Chinese player who cruised past Shi Xunyao (China) 3-0.
Meanwhile, Ahn Jae-hyun (25, Bank of Korea), who competed in the same tournament, was swept 3-0 by Wang Chuqin (25, China), who reclaimed the world No. 1 ranking, and failed to reach the quarterfinals.
