The Ministry of Education said on the 1st that it has finalized the number of new teachers to be selected through the hiring exam for public middle and high schools next year at 7,147. That is 1,643 more than this year (5,504).
It is also 2,350 more than the previously pre-announced recruitment notice figure (4,797).
By region, Gyeonggi has the most with 2,250. It is followed by Seoul (900), Incheon (581), South Gyeongsang (576), and Busan (525).
The number of special secondary teachers to be hired is 303, up four from this year.
A total of 858 non-subject teachers will be hired. They include 334 school health teachers, 243 nutrition teachers, 52 librarian teachers, and 229 professional counseling teachers.
The first round of the public secondary new teacher hiring exam will be held on Nov. 22.
