Former President Yoon Suk-yeol's legal team said on the 29th that "former President Yoon has continued to experience dizziness and vomiting, making it difficult for him to appear in court." Former President Yoon did not appear for the 12th consecutive time at the trial held that day on charges including leading an insurrection.
In a notice sent to the media that day, the legal team said, "Former President Yoon has continued to suffer from dizziness and vomiting since appearing in court last Friday (the 26th), making it difficult to respond, including appearing in court."
At 10:10 a.m. that day, former President Yoon did not appear at the trial on charges of leading an insurrection and abuse of power to obstruct the exercise of rights, held under the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Division 25 (presiding judge Ji Gui-yeon, senior judge). The court is proceeding with a trial in absentia without the defendant present.
Previously, since being detained on Jul. 10, former President Yoon has repeatedly cited deteriorating health and has not appeared at this trial for 12 consecutive sessions.
Meanwhile, on the 26th, former President Yoon did appear at the first hearing in a separate case additionally indicted by the special counsel for insurrection on charges including obstructing special official duties, abuse of power to obstruct the exercise of rights, and falsifying official documents, as well as at a bail hearing held the same day.
At the bail hearing, former President Yoon said, "After being detained, merely surviving in a 1.8-pyeong cell was difficult," adding, "The reason I applied for bail is that I am trying, in any way, to take part in the judicial process." The result of the bail hearing has not yet been released.
