The original soundtrack (OST) "Golden" from the Netflix animated film K-pop Demon Hunters made new history on the U.K. Official Singles Chart.
According to the latest chart released on the 26th (local time), "Golden" fended off the chase from U.K. singer-songwriter Olivia Dean's "Man I Need" to stay on top. Dean's track failed to break through the wall of "Golden," remaining at No. 2 for five consecutive weeks.
"Golden" has topped the chart for a total of eight nonconsecutive weeks and has held the summit for the past seven weeks in a row. The Official Charts said, "This achievement stands shoulder to shoulder with The Archies' 1969 hit 'Sugar, Sugar,'" adding, "Alongside 'Sugar, Sugar,' 'Golden' has become the longest-running No. 1 animated OST in U.K. chart history."
Other tracks on the OST also stood out. "Soda Pop" placed No. 5 and "Your Idol" ranked No. 6, putting as many as three songs in the top 10 at the same time. In addition, "Takedown" came in at No. 25.
TWICE's "Strategy" ranked No. 38, and HYBE's global girl group CatsEye's "Gabriela" reached No. 40. "APT.," sung by BLACKPINK's Rosé and pop star Bruno Mars, ranked No. 58, extending its remarkable run of entering the chart for 49 consecutive weeks.
