The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 26th that it issued a "caution" alert after a fire at the National Information Resources Service caused disruptions to government services. With the issuance of the caution level, it activated the crisis response headquarters.
The ministry held an emergency situation assessment meeting that day, chaired by Minister Yoon Ho-jung. Through a public guidance message, the ministry said it would minimize inconvenience to the public and respond according to its business continuity plan.
At around 8:15 p.m. that evening, a battery fire broke out inside the Daejeon National Information Resources Service, which manages government computing resources in an integrated manner. As a result, some government online services were suspended. The affected services are understood to include 12 first-class and 58 second-class systems, such as mobile IDs and the People's Sinmungo. Fire authorities are currently extinguishing the blaze.
The ministry plans to notify the public of the affected systems through guidance pages, messages, and alerts.
