A fire broke out at the National Information Resources Service, paralyzing government computer services. It is understood that 12 top-tier (grade 1) and 58 grade-2 systems, including mobile ID and the People's Online Petition, were affected. Access to Government24, the online civil service portal, is also difficult.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Fire Agency, a report came in around 8:20 p.m. on the 26th that a lithium battery fire had occurred on the fifth floor of the National Information Resources Service in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. One hundred people evacuated, and a man in his 40s suffered first-degree burns to his face and arm. At present, 101 firefighters and 31 fire engines have been deployed to put out the blaze.
The ministry is specifically identifying the government systems affected by the fire. Minister Yun Ho-jung of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety ordered that the highest priority be placed on protecting lives while mobilizing all available resources to restore disrupted government services.
The National Fire Agency said, "The nationwide 119 reporting and dispatch system is operating normally, but some functions such as video reporting have experienced disruptions," adding, "We completed emergency measures by switching the location information query system to the joint response center of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety."
