The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) on the 26th was conducting searches and seizures at the home and other locations of a sitting senior judge at the Jeonju District Court in connection with a bribery allegation.
The CIO said in a notice to the press, "This morning (the 26th), we are conducting searches and seizures of the residence and office of Judge A, in connection with the so-called 'alleged bribery case involving a sitting judge.'"
The home and office of Attorney B, suspected of having given money to Judge A, were also reportedly included among the search and seizure locations.
Earlier, in Apr., Judge A and Attorney B were reported on charges including bribery, offering a bribe, and violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act. The North Jeolla Provincial Police Agency transferred the case to the CIO on May 19.
The complaint reportedly stated that Attorney B provided Judge A with cash, a first-birthday gold ring for the son, and an expensive perfume, totaling about 3.7 million won.
