Comedian Lee Jin-ho (39), who is under investigation on suspicion of illegal gambling, has now been booked by police on suspicion of drunken driving from Incheon to Yangpyeong.
According to the Yangpyeong Police Station in Gyeonggi and others on the 24th, Lee was apprehended around 3 a.m. that day on suspicion of driving under the influence from Incheon to Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi, and was questioned by police. Lee Jin-ho is believed to have traveled about 100 km from Incheon to Yangpyeong after drinking.
Police said they received a report that "Lee was driving under the influence in Incheon," and, after interjurisdictional cooperation, captured Lee in Yangpyeong. Lee is said to have admitted to driving under the influence.
Lee's blood alcohol level was measured at 0.11%, which warrants license revocation. At Lee's request, police conducted a blood test.
Lee Jin-ho's agency SM C&C said that day, "We are deeply sorry to deliver an official statement due to this unfortunate matter, and we feel very apologetic," adding, "After checking with him, he drove under the influence early today, and at the time of detection, he completed the investigation requested by the competent police station and is awaiting disposition."
It continued, "Lee Jin-ho considers this entirely his fault without the slightest excuse or pretext and is deeply reflecting," and added, "The agency also fully recognizes its responsibility and will ensure that Lee Jin-ho faithfully complies with the disposition and faces legal measures."
Lee, who debuted in 2005 through SBS's "People Looking for a Laugh," gained recognition through tvN's "Comedy Big League" and JTBC's "Knowing Bros," but in Oct. last year, he disclosed himself that he was under police investigation for illegal online gambling and halted his broadcasting activities.
