The Seoul city government said on the 23rd that at "Seollem, Book Night," a singles meetup held with HANWHA GENERAL INSURANCE to mark Youth Day, total applicants came to 3,568.
The event recruits 100 people, 50 men and 50 women. Competition for this session was 35.6 to 1, the highest on record. Twenty-three couples formed among participants, for a matching rate of 46%.
This event was held under the concept of a "library date." Programs included blind dates tailored to reading preferences based on a prior survey, distribution of profile books and dinners by age group, one-on-one conversations grouped by novel genre, and free dates.
A participant, a person surnamed Yang, said, "It was a good opportunity to meet a variety of people and it was very worthwhile." Another participant, a person surnamed Jeong, said, "The event concept was good, and the venue was well organized, so we were able to talk in a comfortable atmosphere."
The Seoul city government plans to hold the final Seollem, Book Night of the year in November.
