A passerby threw eggs at a statue of former President Park Chung-hee installed at Dongdaegu Station Plaza by Daegu City, prompting police to launch an investigation.
According to the Daegu Dongbu Police Station on the 22nd, at about 8:40 p.m. on the 4th at Dongdaegu Station Plaza in Sinam-dong, Dong-gu, an unidentified passerby threw eggs at the Park Chung-hee statue. A security employee of the Daegu Public Facilities Management Corporation who witnessed the scene on closed-circuit (CC) TV reported it to the police.
Police said the passerby who threw the eggs had covered the face with a hood and other items. The statue did not suffer any noticeable external damage.
Police are tracking the suspect who threw the eggs by analyzing CCTV around Dongdaegu Station.
A police official said, "We are reviewing the application of charges such as damage to public property," and added, "We have also completed analysis of the eggshells."
