A man in his 50s who threatened students on their way home from an elementary school in Songpa District, Seoul, was taken into custody by police.
The Songpa Police Station in Seoul said on the 22nd that it arrested a man, identified as A, on the spot on suspicions of child abuse and violating the Child Welfare Act and is investigating.
A is suspected of shouting at passersby while drunk in an alley near an elementary school in Songpa District at about 12:50 p.m. on the 12th and acting as if to charge at and threaten first- and second-grade students.
Police dispatched in response to a report tried to stop A, but the threatening behavior did not cease. Officers immediately arrested A, and when they checked the belongings, they found two bladed weapons in the pocket and seized them.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
