Actor Gang Dong-won and singer CL have come under police investigation on suspicion of working through or personally running agencies that were not registered with the authorities.
The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul said on the 19th that it is investigating the allegations.
Yongsan Police reportedly began an investigation after receiving a complaint alleging that "these entertainers' agencies failed to comply with the registration requirement, violating the Act on the Development of the Public Culture and Arts Industry."
Under the current Act on the Development of the Public Culture and Arts Industry, entertainers active as corporations or as sole proprietors with more than one person must register as engaged in the public culture and arts agency business. Violations are punishable by up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.
On the 17th, singer Sung Si-kyung was previously accused to police on suspicion of operating his one-person agency without registering it with the authorities.
