A man who appeared on the dating reality show "I Am Solo" was sentenced to prison in the first trial on charges of sexual assault.
The Seoul Western District Court Criminal Agreement Division 11 (Presiding Judge Kim U-hyeon, senior judge) on the 19th sentenced a person surnamed Park, 35, who was indicted and detained on charges of quasi-rape, to 1 year and 6 months in prison, suspended for 3 years, at the sentencing hearing. The court also ordered Park to complete 40 hours of sex crime treatment lectures and imposed a five-year employment restriction at institutions related to children, teenagers, and people with disabilities.
Park was brought to trial on charges of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s who was drunk at about 3:30 a.m. on Jun. 21 in a parking lot in Seogyo-dong, Mapo District.
Judge Kim said, "It appears that Park had intercourse despite the victim, who was heavily intoxicated, showing refusal by pushing him away," and added, "The victim appears to have suffered considerable psychological shock and was also injured in the process of resisting." However, the judge noted, "He admitted to the crime and has shown remorse, and the victim reached a settlement and does not wish for punishment," adding, "He was detained for three months, which appears to have given him an opportunity for self-reflection."
Park had appeared on "I Am Solo" and "I Am Solo: Then Love Continues," which aired on SBS Plus and ENA.
