A man in his 30s who bound his biological mother and fled after stealing cash was caught by police.
Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju said on the 19th that it requested an arrest warrant for A, in his 30s, on suspicion of robbery. Police judged there was a risk of destroying evidence and fleeing.
A is suspected of fleeing after taking 300,000 won in cash and a mobile phone from his mother, B, at a massage parlor she operates in Gwangsan District, Gwangju, around 11:30 p.m. on the 16th. Investigators found that A tied up his mother while shouting for her to hand over the cash.
He fled to his home in Gyeonggi Province immediately after the crime but was urgently arrested in about five hours.
During police questioning, A reportedly said in effect that he committed the crime because he was unemployed and had no living expenses. Whether he will be detained will be decided by the court the same day.
