In Hwagok-dong, Gangseo District, Seoul, a sanitation worker died after being pinned between a garbage collection truck and a utility pole.
On the 18th, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul said that around 3:22 a.m. that day, a sanitation worker in his 50s, identified only as A, who was collecting garbage in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo District, died in the middle of the job.
At the time of the accident, A was riding on the back of the garbage collection truck while it was moving, and it was reported that during the process of the truck reversing to avoid an oncoming vehicle, A was caught between the utility pole and the truck.
Fire authorities performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on A, who was in cardiac arrest, while transporting A to a hospital, but A ultimately died.
The Gangseo Police Station booked without detention a man in his 50s, identified only as B, who drove the garbage collection truck, on suspicion of causing death under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents, and is investigating.
